		<description>My wife and I are Brazilians and our son is now 3 1/2 years old.
He speaks fluently Portuguese and English and some loose words of Spanish (he will be fluent in Spanish before 7, for sure).
He already writes his name and over 50 different words, can count to 20 in two languages, can do addition, subtraction and division of numbers up to 10 and he is a yellow belt in Karate...
I know a lot of other kids of immigrants that can do the same of better, but I really don&#039;t know many kids with &quot;pure&quot; American background with such proficiency at that age, what makes me wonder what kind of population and statistical method was used in the research and the credentials of researchers.</description>
